Digital Learning

Digital Learning

At St Louis, we use technology to make your learning engaging and relevant for the future. You will have access to iPads, Chromebooks and computer suites to support your studies across all subjects. Every classroom is equipped with Clevertouch boards to make lessons interactive. In Junior School you will develop skills in computing and programming while older students can choose from a range of digital qualifications. We use Google Classroom as our main platform which allows you to access resources and complete assignments easily whether you are in school or at home. Senior students also have the option to bring their own devices to assist with independent study. As technology evolves we are introducing new tools, including Artificial Intelligence, to help you research and learn more effectively.

Google Classroom

Getting Started

At St Louis, Google Classroom is your essential digital hub for learning. Whether you are in Junior School using our computing resources or a Senior student preparing for exams, this platform is where you will find your assignments, lesson materials and important updates.

How to Access the Platform

You can access Google Classroom on the school computers, iPads and Chromebooks provided in your classes as well as at home: https://classroom.google.com/ . If you are using a non-school computer, simply log in using your C2k username @ c2ken.net and password. You can also access your classrooms through the MySchool interface which you likely use for other school services.

What You Will Find Inside

Once you have logged in, you will see a dashboard with a ‘card’ for each of your subjects. Your teachers use these classrooms to:

  • Post Assignments and Resources: You can view your homework tasks, download study notes and upload your finished work directly to your teacher.

  • Interactive Learning: Teachers are using new features to make lessons more engaging, such as embedding YouTube clips and interactive questions directly into your tasks.

  • Student Voice: If you are involved with the Student Council, you may be added to specific Classrooms to help disseminate information regarding campaigns and meetings.

Bring Your Own Device (Senior Students)

If you are a senior pupil (Year 13 or 14), you are encouraged to bring your own device to school to help with your independent study. However, before connecting your personal laptop or tablet to the school network, you must consult with the IT Technician to ensure it is set up correctly and safely and that you have completed and signed, along with your parents, the Wireless Internet Policy.

Need Help?

If you have trouble logging in or cannot see the classes you expect on your dashboard, please speak to your subject teacher or visit the IT Technician for assistance.

Be Ready for Success!

1. Accounts and Access

  • Check your C2k Login: Ensure you know your C2k username and password. You will need these to log in to school computers and the MySchool interface.

  • Google Classroom Setup: Log in to Google Classroom and check that you can see the ‘cards’ for all your current subjects. If a class is missing, ask your subject teacher or the IT Technician for the class code. https://classroom.google.com/

  • MySchool: Familiarise yourself with the MySchool page as this is a key management tool for accessing school services. https://www.c2kschools.net/standard/Index.aspx

2. Devices and Hardware

  • Senior Students (BYOD): If you are in Year 13 or 14 and plan to bring your own laptop or tablet, you must consult with the IT Technician first to ensure it is safe to connect to the network and that you have completed the Wireless Internet Policy form.

  • Charging: If you use a personal device or a school-issued iPad/Chromebook, ensure it is fully charged before the school day begins. You may not get access to a charging port in school.

  • Headphones: It is useful to have a pair of headphones for interactive lessons or when watching video resources posted by teachers.

3. Software and Apps

  • Subject Specific Apps: Check if your subjects require specific apps. For example, programming tools for KS3 Computing or specific digital media software for Moving Image Arts.

  • Productivity Tools: Ensure you are comfortable using word processing and presentation software, as these are essential for your assignments.

4. Safety and Responsibility

  • Review the Rules: Remind yourself of the school's e-safety rules and the Acceptable Use Policy. Remember that staying safe online is a priority.

  • Mobile Phones: Be aware of the mobile phone policy. You will be asked to place your phone in a box every lesson.
